~Name: Caillech [aka Cailleach]

~Alignment: Chaotic Neutral

~Age: Timeless [appears 25]

For as long as she can remember she has watched over and protected the land, taking charge during the winter months while her sister Brighde watched over and protected it during the summer months. Always, at the onset of winter Caillech would take her annual walk eastward across the great stones of the islands to wash her plaid. Once it was clean and white again, she would lay it over the land protecting it in a mantle of snow. Great herds of deer roamed, feeding the people until her sister took charge again. The people worshipped her and her sister back then.

The Formorians came to Eireann, then the Vikings, who freed the people from the Formorians. The land became known, then, as Lochlainn. In their gratefulness, the people took on the ways of the Vikings, and in so doing the memories of Caillech and her sister became lost to most. Caillech retired to the Curlew Mountains, her home veiled by clouds.

Lifetimes passed, the land changed, and the population grew. Bored with merely watching, she took on a mortal form for a time. Taking as husband a feudal lord, she guided him through many battles until he became High Lord of Lochlainn. She intended him to become High King, but her mortal form could not handle the ravages that numerous children would take. After her mortal death during childbirth, two of her elder children battled against their father, slaying him. The chaos that ensued consumed the country, until finally one of the feudal lords enlisted the help of a neighboring country. That assistance would extract sovereignty as a price.

She watches over Eireann now (Lochlainn, she must remember to call this land Lochlainn in deference to her mate), in her favorite form, waiting until her assistance is requested. Fae Wolf, she can roam at will amongst the trees and moors, unfold her wings and take to the skies at night with her soft black feathers reflecting the moon’s shine; or, if she so desires, take on a human form and walk among man.

She prefers her Fae Wolf form though, since her last walk amongst man only revealed to her that they no longer revered the Gods and Goddesses who once protected them. The land, no longer protected, soon started to suffer cycles of famine, each progressively worse than the one before. They looked to themselves for answers and then to the British who ruled over them.

Ignored, they began to starve. Those that could, gave up their land in payment of their taxes to the landlords. They turned to the workhouses for employment and housing, which soon became overrun. The cries of the starving and homeless, unheeded by the British, has reached her and her mate, and anger grows.

They are not permitted to intervene, unless requested….

The exact origins of gargoyles lie so far back in the mists of time that we have no certain details as to how they came about. We do know that they are descended from other gargate species, and not aliens or creatures of magic. Gargoyles were the first of the Three Races to come into existence, preceding not only humans but even Oberon's Children. They enjoy a close link to the Earth that may be the result of their great age, and which strongly affects their stone sleep and strict breeding cycles.

By the dawn of recorded human history, gargoyles had spread throughout the planet, and clans could be found all over the world. This period of prosperity came to an end, however, when humans learned how to work metal, particularly with the dawn of the Iron Age. Humans had long feared gargoyles, believing them to be demonic monsters because of their frightening appearance and nocturnal nature, but had up until now been no threat to them; at night, the gargoyles were too formidable to be safely challenged, being much stronger than humans and able to glide, and the crude and primitive weapons of the Stone Age were no danger to a gargoyle in their stone-like sleep. But when humans armed themselves with iron weapons, they could come upon gargoyles in their sleep and shatter them. Many clans were destroyed this way, and the remainder were forced to retreat far from human society, into the wilderness where it was safe.

But not all humans treated gargoyles this way. Some humans realized that the gargoyles, because of their fighting skills, made excellent allies in defending their homes from rival human bands. These humans sought out gargoyle clans and obtained permission from them to build fortified homes for themselves atop the cliffs where gargoyles kept their rookeries. By day, the humans in such a fortress would watch over the gargoyles in their sleep, and protect them from harm, while at night, the gargoyles would protect the humans' home from attackers. And for a while, this strategy worked.

But it did not last long. As time wore on, the humans who had initially formed these alliances came to fear their gargoyle protectors, considering them unnatural creatures and savage beasts. Tensions grew between the two races, and usually, they ended with the humans turning on their former protectors and destroying them. The numbers of gargoyles grew steadily fewer. At last, humans came to abandon these alliances altogether, and the surviving gargoyles fled into the wilds to hide.

In time the gargoyles learned they would become extinct if things continued as they did and so they sought out a means to save their race. A pact was formed with a cult where they would be resurrected every 800 years, allowing them the ability to feed and increase their numbers.

The most recent resurrection occurred in the year 2009, which almost ended in disaster for the gargoyle race. Modern weaponry allowed the human race to nearly massacre the entire remaining clan of gargoyles; however a trap had been set and a large number were able to escape. The gargoyles are now hibernating, waiting for a future resurrection…

Bellili’s powers include flight, great speed, rapid regeneration, impervious skin making most majiks and weaponry useless against her, extended vision, and can use geomancy (earth majik).

Geirolf

~Name: Geirolf

~Screenname: RodrigoDeCastillo

~Char Age: timeless (looks 30)

~Char Race: Werewolf Fae/Get of Fenrir

~Alignment: Chaotic Neutral

A grandson of Fenris, Geirolf was the wolfspear of the Fae for centuries he fought glorious battles beside the Aesir and worthy mortals...Then man turned on the old ways...a warrior through and through Geirolf fought many battles in many guises with his half brother Rua...rebelling against the English again and again. He has also taught the arts of war to those mortals smart enough to summon him.

He is one of the last three of his race for the world's magic is no longer strong enough to give birth to more of their kind. His mate, Caillech is especially saddened by this. Dwelling in Lochlainn he waits out fora time when one of royal blood summons him once more.

A great black Werewolf in aspect, he has the powers of Loup Garou and those over the elements.
