Chapter 1 - The Grande Wars
A few decades had passed since the Espada first revealed themselves to be under Aizen Sousuke, the months after were known as the Grande Wars which only ended with Ichigo Kurosaki mastering his Vizard and destroying Aizen. How he did it, no-one knows. All anyone knew was that, that was the final blow towards the Espada. They scattered, Like rats. The order was to hunt them down and destroy them. Naturally, many fell under the power of the Soul Society. Few still live to this day. Byakuya was one of the few remaining Shinigami still alive after the Grande Wars. Another was Kouta Genryūsai, then 3rd seat of Sqaud 1 and daughter of then Head Captain, Shigekuni Yamamoto Genryūsai. Many had perished from the onslaught of the Espada at the battle of Karakura. Soon after the Wars, Byakuya was promoted to Head Captain and ordered the Soul Society to close all gates from Hueco Mundo to the real world and vice versa to be permanently closed. It was in this time of peace that Soul society was rebuilt, 5 times stronger than Before. The peace lasted for 20 years… But it wouldn’t always be this peaceful…
Chapter 2 - The Fool
The Sakura tree bloomed and flourished as Byakuya sat quietly below, the sakura petals gently brushing against his cheeks. Byakuya sat and felt the wind blowing against his skin and thought of the past. “Sir, We have a disturbance in Sector 34.� a member of squad 6 said as he ran up the hill towards Byakuya. “Go and tell Kouta that the Rukongai are being troublesome again and that it’s her job to sort it out.� Byakuya told the member sternly, not even glancing at him. “Erm… Yes sir.� The squad member acknowledged and ran back down the hill, stumbling a little then tripping over his feet. Byakuya looked from the corner of his eye and saw the member rolling down the hill head first. “Fool.� Byakuya thought to himself. After another 10 minutes Byakuya raised himself and walked slowly down the hill as to make sure not to make the simple mistake the squad member before him did.
Chapter 3 - The Annual Noble Day
As Byakuya began walking through Seireitei with his eyes closed, the area memorized in his head, he began thinking of Shizuka and their times together. He thought of how they met at the Annual Nobles Day, when the heads of all Noble houses were to meet at one of the manors and discuss the Seireitei then talk to the followers of the houses. I thought this to be a strange concept, but it had always been like this since before Byakuya came to the Soul Society. The meeting that particular year took place in the Genryusai Manor. Byakuya then began to reminisce of the events of that day... He walked to the Large wooden gate of the genryusai manor with it's gilded House Emblem. The gates opened as Byakuya approached them. Without thinking he just walked straight in and was approached by the Head of the genryusai house, Kouta Genryusai. "Hello, Kouta. Long time no see" Byakuya said to Kouta, smiling slightly. "It has been to long" Kouta said smiling back. "Shall we go in? We're still waiting for the head of the Shihouin house." Kouta said impatiently. "Of course. You lead" Byakuya said holding his arm out to the Manor. Kouta began walking with Byakuya trailing close behind."Have you met my sisters', Shizuka and Motoki?" Kouta said with interest. "No. I don't believe I have." Byakuya said innocently. "I'll introduce you to them after the meeting." Kouta said glancing backwards and smiling. "In here" she added, opening a door to a large hall which there was nothing but a low small table surrounded by 4 cushions. We both sat down on opposite cushions and waited a few minutes more as the other 2 heads joined us. The meeting was boring. As it has been for the past 100 years. At the end, Byakuya shook hands with the 3 heads as two departed. He and Kouta were left alone. Kouta called for a servant and told them to go and bring Shizuka and Motoki.
Chapter 4 - The Girls
We talked for a few minutes before the doors to the hall slowly eased open to reveal two girls of similar appearance to Kouta, followed by two servants. The two girls walked into the hall wearing Academy robes, after Byakuya saw the robes he held his reiatsu in, thinking that the two would not hold well against it. :They can handle it Byakuya." Kouta said, obviously sensing my Reiatsu being withheld "Better to be safe thatn sorry." Byakuya replied. When they were about 10 feet away, both bowed to him and Kouta. "Shizuka, Motoki, this is Head Captain Byakuya Kuchiki. Also head of the Kuchiki Family." Kouta said smiling all the time. "It's a pleasure to meet you" both Shizuka and Motoki said in Unison. "And you." Byakuya replied. He felt easy near these 3 and let his reiatsu flow as normal. The two servants behind the girls fell to the floor not moving, the two girls continued to stand, undisturbed by the Reiatsu. Kouta looked at the two servants. "Bad idea letting it go Byakuya. The servants can't handle it." Kouta said looking at the servantslying on the floor. "I'd better be going." Byakuya said to the 3. "You two will certainly become great captains one day. Not many academy students have withstood my Reiatsu. Some even collapsed at a simple glance." Byakuya said smiling slightly. "Goobye, Kouta, Shizuka, Motoki." Byakuya said bowing slightly to the girls. "I'll show you out." Kouta raised up as Byakuya walked past Shizuka and Motoki. Byakuya nodded as Kouta shunpo'd over the two and landed beside Byakuya.
Chapter 5 - The Shadows that Lurk
As Byakuya and Kouta turned the corner, they could hear the two girls help the collapsed servants up. "Can you remember, when I was the 3rd seat and I used Soul Burial on the Soul that was being overtaken by a Hollow?" Kouta asked questionably. "Yes. I remember that day well. It was the day that Kyouraku and Ukitake were promoted to Squad Zero. Why do you ask?" Byakuya said thinking. "Well, I learned that he joined the Academy a few years ago. He's in the same year as Shizuka and Motoki. He's apparently brilliant at Shunpo and has been approached by Soifon and offered a place as 3rd seat in Squad 2 already." Kouta said suprisingly. Byakuya thought for a moment and said "What is his name?" Kouta looked up as they reached the gates of the manor. "His name is Shadow." She said as the gates closed between them as Byakuya stood outside of the gate alone.
Chapter 6 - The Party begins
Years had passed since he met Shizuka and Motoki Genryusai, until he decided that it was time and proposed to Marry Shizuka. She accepted and the marriage preparations began. "We should have a party for the nobles this year and announce it then." Shizuka sugested. "Good idea" Byakuya replied with a slight smile emerging. The party took a few days to organise and decorate. The Kuchiki Manor was to be the venue, all of the captains were invited, as were their lieutenant and 3rd seats. The Heads of the noble houses were also invited, with them they could bring 1 guest. The party was held a months before the wedding in the Great Hall of the Kuchiki Manor. The room was large with windows flooding the room with light, Crystal chandeliers holding unlit candles were hanging from the roof, the floor made of extremely shiny wood reflected the light from the windows into all directions. 20 tables were set out seperately into 4 rows, with 5 in each row. All were facing towards the top table where Byakuya would sit with his lieutenant, 3rd seat and Rukia, facing the 15 tables. As the guest began to filter in, Byakuya greeted them all alongside Kouta, both being the oldest captains and Head of houses, knew everyone in Seireitei. The 2 other heads of houses entered. Byakuya and Kouta bowed and 2 Kuchiki Servants showed them to their tables at the front of the hall, in between the two tables where Kouta, Shizuka and Motoki would sit on one table and Soi foin, her Lieutenant and 3rd seat would sit. As the captains began to filter in, Byakuya told Kouta that she could go and sit down if she wanted. "Very well." Kouta agreed and walked over to the Genryusai table as Soi Fon entered, "Welcome Soi Fon." Byakuya said as he bowed to her "Thank you for the invite Byakuya" Soi fon replied. Byakuya approached her and whispered in her ear "I know about your third seat. I want none of that tonight." Bakuya looked sternly at her as she nodded and walked towards her table as her lieutenant and 3rd seat walked past. Byakuya glanced at the third seat as he walked past. "I knew it was him."
