They were mages who stole the soul of Saulot, the leader of the Salubri, and used his blood to form a new kind of vampire: the Tremere. The Tremere, however, have hidden this vile fact by creating an incredible slander campaign claiming that the Salubri are demons who drink the souls of others, and have been killing off the clan with marked success.
Tremere keep to themselves when not at public gathering, forming tightly-knit covens with stiff hierarchies.
