History:
When Valeran was born, the battles between Tasmine and her twin Yardan still raged over the throne. Sira, pregnant and naiive at the time, shows her true strength that eventually leads to her commanding Irongate/Shebalba eventually. She takes it upon her Necrodius self to seek out Death for a deal... and is offered a strange proposition. Death agreed to hold Tasmine's soul in exchange of her unborn son being his new avatar... so Death may live. In desperation Sira agrees. However, three months later when a baby grew too quickly in her womb and nearly killing her, Valeran was born and held all the power and precociousness of Death... and tried to kill his mother. Sira, in self defense, pitches her son over the edge of the Abyss of Souls, and returns Death to his rightful place. Valeran's death caused his own life again... as Sira is pregnant yet again, this time with twins. When Sauda and Valeran were born, they grew up as normal as Necrodius children could.
As time passed, Valeran grew into a strong young man, and was expected to take the throne, but his first love made his legs and loyalties wander and his twin got the throne instead. Upon returning in heartbreak, he grew enraged to find his twin on the throne that should have been his and the Necrodius insane lust for power came to surface. He tried to kill his own nephew, which got him soul sucked by a then dead Sauda, and her son put on the throne even at the wee age of four months, guarded over by his grandmother Sira.
As Valeran wanders the abyss, he meets up with his former soul, the firstborn. A deal is struck. If the Necrodius clan can make up for the sins of their forefathers, Valeran would be placed as the new Death of their world. As Sauda's soul finds his in the abyss, the two make peace and return to the world of the living, to see to their family's forgiveness. When Valeran tells Sira she must sacrifice the life of her grandson, Rajesh, she instead kills herself and Yardan and Roderick choose to die with her... thus they pass their test and their world evolves from Irongate to Shebalba. Valeran asks his twin to be his raven, his harbinger of souls, and she agrees.
Valeran weilds the pillar blade of Death, Brandubh Aonghas "The Black Raven’s Choice". Much like the typical Necrodius powers, the ability to tap into the lifestream and take or return a soul from one to the other. The ability to speak with the dead, summon mostly willing dead, soul suck for lifeforce, and walk the abyss. He is a typical form of Death... and very mysterious about his powers as a result.
Because I could not stop for Death,
He kindly stopped for me.
The Carriage held but just ourselves
And Immortality
~Emily Dickinson
When the first living thing existed,
I was there waiting.
When the last living thing dies,
my job will be finished.
I'll put the chairs on the tables,
turn out the lights,
and lock the universe
behind me as I leave.
