When you hurt someone, you expect tears, anger, depression... That's all bad, sure, but what about when you DON'T hear any of that. What do you do when a person looks at you and smiles, saying, "Don't worry. I-I'm used to it." Then, you should be very, very worried. That person that you just did that to? You're not the first to hurt them. In fact, you're probably one in a long line of people who have. How horrible is that? A person so used to pain that they're numb to it? A person so used to rejection that they come to expect it from anyone they take interest in? Even though they are so used to it that they can now call it 'Normal', don't expect them NOT to cry or to NOT react when you tear their heart out. If you're not going to be their everything, then don't lead them on. You damage us - yes, I'm one of them - more than you will ever know, and until it happens to you as much as it happens to us, you never will.
