"Music Is Like Oxygen for Me…" For years rappers have defined music in many different ways. Some would say music is their savior while others describe music as their passion, and there are some who feel as if music is just another way to earn a pay check. But to describe music as one of the most important factors needed for a person to survive is a reality for Nyce. When I asked Nyce, an up and coming rapper to define music, without hesitation he said "Music is like oxygen for me, you know? It's like my only way to really breathe". Nyce grew up in Jamaica, Queens. He experienced death during his young ages . "I started writing in the sixth grade. It started out with a poem about my great grandmother after she died. The teacher actually called my mom up to the school because my description of death was out of the ordinary for a kid my age". After ventilating his deepest feelings and thoughts in poems Nyce would soon realize his infatuation with rhythm and different sounds of music. He then wrote his first song that would open up his family and friends eyes to a hidden talent that even he did not notice at first. "I would have to say my hunger for success and everything I been through in life really inspires me to keep pushing forward and gives me the will to not give up, I'm not doing this just for me I got loved ones that I lost along the way they aren't here but they were supposed to be, so I have to live for myself and succeed for them". Nyce has lived above the expectations that were placed on him; and is pursuing his degree in Business Administration. Nyce is definitely a force to recon with, he has not just studied the craft of the music industry but has also taken it upon himself to learn the in and outs of the business world as a whole. Nyce could not picture himself where he is today without having a dream and working hard to achieve that dream.
