Hello. I just noticed that there is a problem with cycling animation.

I am running IMVU version 467.22 just fyi.

This has nothing to do with the changes that IMVU made with scrolling/cycling and etc that happened previously a bit ago.

My cycling texture has 6 Cells. It looks like this :

the Derivable I am deriving off of is this :

http://www.imvu.com/shop/product.php?products_id=9881511

I have the start cell box set to '0' and Num Cells Set to '6' of course because I want it to cycle through all 6 cells.

However it is not. It cycles from cell '0' to '1' then skips '2' .. goes to '3' and '4' then skips '5' and goes back to '0' again to repeat process.

so cell '2' and '5' get skipped completely.

This is not just happening with this one product I derived but all my products I just was looking at a few.. I usually use a 6 cell texture that is 512x256 in measurement.

Is my texture a problem?

can you only use textures with cells in dimensions of the square of '2' like 2..4..8.. etc? Will the creator only go through the first 4 regardless?

Thank you for your attention to this 'bug' or if it is my problem and I am doing something wrong, please let me know.

Don't be surprised if the answer turns out to be that "Texture Cells", like the Texture they are held on Must Conform to the Rule of 2

Yep, number of cells has to be 2, 4, 8, 16 etc.

Each frame displayed is just like a normal texture and client will resize always follow rule of 2. Have a look at Keefs link.

With animating clothing I find two frames 256x256 is what looks best smaller and you lose detail too much, 2 frames is not much of an animation though and more like on off.

another tip before you start any clothing animation, tick the scroll box and check the texture can scroll, if it can do that.. then you can animate it, few times I have made the animated texture, wasted an hour.. then finally worked out the texture slot could not be animated to start with.
