You can’t get to Heaven by being a good person

There is nothing you can do to please G d, period. He will not accept your good deeds, and you cannot get to Heaven by obeying anyone‘s religious rules, or going to church, or being a nice person

Salvation is a FREE gift.
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Rom.
6:23.

You can never in your life earn it by doing good works.
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. Eph. 2

Accepting the free gift
First you have to acknowledge that you can’t pay anything for it, that we all are sinners . We can’t keep G d’s law.

10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: Rom 3
4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. 1Jn 3
For the wages of sin is death… Rom. 6:23
8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: 2 Thes 1

Then believe that your lawbreaking is the whole reason you needed Jesus to suffer the death penalty in your place. He alone was worthy to pay the price of eternal life for you.

…thou shalt call his name Jesus, for he shall save his people from their sins. Mat 1:21
For Christ also hath suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to G d… 1Pet 3:18
We owe a debt we could not pay ; he paid a debt he did not owe. Because of sin, the people of the old covenant had to kill a lamb daily, so its blood would cover their sins. The lamb had to be spotless, without blemish. In the new covenant, Jesus is the spotless Lamb, whose blood daily takes away our sins, and keeps us clean.

That’s all. Just believe
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. Rom 10

It really is that simple. To accept a free gift, all you do is put your hand out and take it. Then you become his child. Now he works in you to keep his law.

4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

His commandments are all based on The Ten Commandments (Exodus 20) and the moral law of Moses, in the Torah ( the first 5 books of the Bible.)
