My birthday is October 14, 1971. It used to say that above.
I love science fiction, going to science fiction conventions primarily in Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, Indiana, and Toronto, Ontario, Canada... but I'll go anywhere I think it will be a good con! Locally, you can find me at Capricon (February), Duckon (June), Bristol Renaissance Faire (July-September), Windycon (November), Midwest Furfest (November) and more!
I read a LOT of books, and I was trying to write a novel. I've already typed over 200K words, and have at least that much still yet to type! Assuming that only 10% of what anyone writes is worth keeping, and 50K words is the average novel, I still think I've got a good beginning! But real life caught up with me, and I haven't done any writing beyind my blog for years.
I don't own TV at all anymore. I've been watching Flashforward on Hulu. I'm a big Robert J. Sawyer fan, so when the book got turned into a show, I figured I'd watch.
But I have a computer, and I love RPGs. Heck, I used to play MUDs! I discovered IMVU while looking up hints for Runescape, I think... I was curious, and the screenshots reminded me of The Sims. So I figured what the heck, downloaded it, and I'm meeting lots of cool people!
Weather where I'm at: O'HARE/ CHICAGO
Relationship Status: Other Orientation: Straight Looking For: Friendship
Find out about why Weird Al Yankovich's song "You're Pitiful", a parody of James Blunt's song "You're Beautiful" is released for free on Weird Al's website, and will NOT be on his upcoming album here on NPR's website.

If you're into jazz music, and/ or in Chicago, check out my friend/ horror writer at Twilight Tales and Chicago's only redheaded Blues diva, Liz Mandville Greeson and my other friend, playing Friday nights at Joe's Be Bop at Navy Pier, Skinny Williams.
And here, we have the aliens among us... They only visited. They didn't stick around. But that's okay. I'm keeping an eye out for them! I know they're out there! I want to believe!
See how freaky they look! They HAVE to be aliens!!!
I've been homeless in my life before, and been close to it too many times to count. There's many reasons that it happens to people, and it's very difficult to overcome poverty. I still haven't. Not everyone without a home is an alcoholic druggie or a battered and abused woman. Sometimes, it's just somebody who was in the wrong place at the wrong time, or somebody who made a very bad choice, or someone forced to suffer because of somebody else's bad choices. Just think about it...
Just click on my blog stuff below, because this thing is weird, and won't show posts till a day later, unless you click, and only shows the first 5, or something dumb like that.

Take some time to read some science fiction!

The background picture I'm using was one I took myself, and is completely unmodified by any paint programs. The angle of it, and the lighting, remind me of something from science fiction, maybe like a hangar bay, or a long tunnel in a starbase that honored guests and ambassadors might walk down. I've always called it Wazmon Starbase, from the science fiction stories I've been writing. Drop me a note if you're interested in reading my stories. I meant it as a science fiction story, and it turned into a tragic love story, set in the future, with fantasy elements. I've posted most of it on my Live Journal account, but I'm very particular about who gets to read it!

My Interests
Hey there, I've been trying stuff out, and looking around on everyone else's homepages, and posting cool stuff. I found these:
.
Chicago area Science fiction, Fantasy, Anime, Gaming conventions and/or stuff I might actually go to
posted on June 04, 2006 11:02:56 pm
Just because so many people have asked me about this in the past few weeks, here's the public service announcement...
Chicago area cons and stuff I MIGHT actually go to:
Here's the best list I could come up with for cons.
Du Page SF and Fantasy Society. Has monthly meetings in Du Page County, Illinois, usually the 3rd Saturday of the month.
Picnicon (No, it was NOT a joke when I mentioned it in my 2BCon Report!!!). Deerfield, IL, July 13
Bristol Renaissance Faire, Kenosha WI, weekends from July 8-September 4. I work out here. So do lots of other people. Let's just say if you're looking for me out here, you can do it by smell... oh, and the kiwi green outfit. Yes, that really does narrow it down!
Gencon, Indianapolis IN, August 10-13. This gaming convention originated in Lake Geneva WI under TSR's rule, and got moved from Milwaukee to Indianapolis after 2004 (I think?) after Hasbro bought Nazis Wizards of the Coast. It's estimated at over 25,000 fans.
MILWAUKEE GAMEFEST, July 9; Midwest Airlines Center, 400 W. Wisconsin Ave. 908-6000. I can't find a website anywhere, dangit!!! This would be Milwaukee's answer to Gencon, I suppose... I went in its first year, and it was pretty lame, but I guess it's been getting attention since because they lost Gencon.
Dragoncon, Atlanta GA, September 1-5. Originally a comic book convention, it now encompasses comics, anime, manga, gaming, toys, music, entertainment, literature, and more. It's estimated at over 60,000 fans, and is thought to be the largest con in North America.
After that, it's Windycon, in Rosemont IL, November 10-12. Named for the Windy City, duh!
Midwest Furfest, in Schaumburg IL, November 17-19. A furry convention. People in furry costumes, and animal lovers, especially furry artwork.
Chicago Tardis, Rosemont IL, Thanksgiving weekend. Once known as Chicago Visions, this Doctor Who con also includes other BBC TV and radio shows.
Don't forget about the Chicago Worldcon in 2008 bid! It's very pricey, but far cheaper if you get in EARLY! It's great if you love classic SF literature, and/ or you're a writer, but media freaks and gamers will find little joy here. Go to Dragoncon if you're into that! Worldcons have been around almost 70 years, and Chicago tends to get one on a 9 year cycle. They are bidding for 2008 against Columbus and Denver (and I think that's it). The vote will be held at LACon and you must be at least a supporting member, and pay voting privileges fees to vote for Worldcon site selection, but voting will get you a discount on the Worldcon membership, no matter who wins. The Worldcon is traditionally held on Labor Day weekend, which sometimes conflicts with Dragoncon, or other major regional cons. When a Worldcon is held overseas, like Japan in 2007, North America will have a NASFiC, (North American Science Fiction Convention).

How about trying my Plink game? These pictures are from when Brice and I got in-character "married" by the Puritan at the Bristol Renaissance Faire, August 27, 2006.
My Wish List
I want to get one of those huge 70 person clubs, and start a *chatCast about science fiction, listed on the IMVU homepage. It should be like an online relaxacon. Maybe I'll call it... SCIFFYCON! or maybe IMVUcon or something. And hold it whenever I think I can get more than a couple people interested. Yeah... :) No, I'm not a furry YET... but I'm usually more scaley and winged anyway, and I love science fiction. Can you imagine combining all that? Heh, I'm working on it! ;)
