One of the first recommendations I give to anyone who is having problems with harassment, is to report their actions, do not argue with them or seek out some type of revenge. Simply ignore them and most often they will move on to more interesting things. I know this is extremely difficult to do sometimes, but it really is in everyone's best interest.
If you begin arguing and attacking someone who is harassing you, you put your own account in jeopardy. If you get your friends to start bothering that user, their accounts will be put in jeopardy. It just isn't worth the hassle, and no one wants to lose their account.
